I agree with the idea that it depends on individual shots. There are some shots I'm more than happy to remove anything that might detract from the message or feel I want to convey. There are other shots of course that I just leave completely alone, because they add to it, or I just want to document what I see!

after reading this posting it gave me a nudge,,,,,,some of the grasstrack pictures i show have the rope barrier in the back ground or a marshal or even the public to me this is the whole picture,but to some who look at it they say the background is to buisy,if i remove the spectators ,ropes,tanoy,marshals all that is left is 2 chaps on a 1000cc outfit in the middle of the field,but there again the rider may just want the picture of him on his outfit,so we have the same problem,

Depends on the purpose of the shot for me, record shot then obviously no cloning.

Everything else is fair game, art after all is the point and never let reality get in the way of a good pic!
