Re: Eagle head. Does this work?

Personally I think the colours of animals are an intrinsic part of their character - and without such, that character is some what lost.

Re: Eagle head. Does this work?

I understand what you are saying Jack. This Bird is a lightish colour, the light was on him too, I liked the pose and the way he was looking down which was why I converted it as I didnt care for the original. If the Bird were a darker ciolour I think it may be better, although I do like mono anyway. Thanks for your comments, appreciated.

Re: Eagle head. Does this work?

I think you need to darken the beak and head a little, maybe add a touch of sharpening - do you want me to edit it and show you what I mean?

Re: Eagle head. Does this work?

Yeah I know what you mean Azz, its why I didnt like it in the first place, harsh, bright light on him, I was just drawn to the pose. Of course you can have a play!

Re: Eagle head. Does this work?

Thats MUCH better Azz!! My problem is I dont do PS or other stuff, you know what Im like, cropping and a bit of sharpening is the extent of my talent in that respect!! Thanks for doing that. Which program did you use and which "bits" darkened the beak?

Re: Eagle head. Does this work?

Glad you like it Dawn. I use photoshop and try to be as subtle as possible, and the tools for this edit were:

Darken beak/face - burn tool (use a large soft brush - right click to select)
Lighten eye - the opposite of the above (the dodge tool - again use a largish soft brush)
Levels (control and L) - bring in left slider to darken background, move middle slider to left to lift image a tad (lighten). Move right hand slider a tiny bit to add some contrast.
Smart Sharpen - about 21

Easy huh

Re: Eagle head. Does this work?

Azz
Dawn doesn't have Photoshop so no burn/dodge tool-levels etc.

Re: Eagle head. Does this work?

It is a nice pose Dawn, I do think Azz's edit has brought out the detail on the beack a lot more which has added depth to the photo.
