Not a good week for my 365 project

Not having a good week for photography!
My computer overheats and shuts down everytime I try editing a picture.
My 50mm 1.8 is off being repaired after it packed in completely.
I was sick of how many OOF pictures I was getting on my camera compared to when I tried my Dad's 5D (95% OOF on my camera compared to about 5% on the 5D) so I have sent that to a camera repair shop to be checked / worked on. Its going to be away for at least a week.

So, I am having to use a compact camera for my 365 this week and I'm not enjoying it!
Even my 9 year old has got used to DSLR quality. He picked up the compact, took a picture, reviewed it and said 'Ughh thats noisy, where is the ISO setting on this thing!'

I think sometimes Sod's law just has it in for us.

I'm a bit miffed today too. I've had a few day's holiday carried over from last year and every time I book take a day we've either had fog, pouring rain or so much snow I can't get to where I want to go.

Re: Not a good week for my 365 project

Lol @ the 9 year old!!

If your PC is overheating it could be a loose component - I'd prob open it and make sure everything is slotted in properly. Of course make sure it is unplugged from the mains first and use a anti-static wrist-band.

I am sure you'll do ok with the pNs

Re: Not a good week for my 365 project

My 9 year old is fab!
He shoots in manual! Then he opens up his pictures in Elelments and runs a Levels adjustment layer pulling in the edges of to give it some pop.

The over heating thing is a problem thats been going on for ages.
It gets worse and worse, then hubby finally takes it apart hoovers it for me then its better for a month or so. Then its starts getting wobbly again.
Hubby blames me for dowloading random stuff (photoshop actions etc.) but he likes to blame me for everything.

Re: Not a good week for my 365 project

Poor you no camera

I hear ya! I'm married to a computer whizz, and he does my head in ,I'll get a problem, and then he will fiddle with my PC, and then it is all different, I got a lecture about downloading actions too

I know very little about computers, but could it be your fan is bust in your computer??so it overheats?? I am clueless

Re: Not a good week for my 365 project

The fan has been replaced twice! but there has always been some kind of overheating thing going on with this computer.
and this has been going on way before I took up photography so it can't be the actions or other bits I download.

Re: Not a good week for my 365 project

I'm hoping a good hoover will get it going again.
If I get a new computer there will be no chance of a new camera.
