Re: The Birder

We manage, somehow, to keep ours in pretty good shape! I also have a fab Handbook of Bird Identification for Europe and The Western Paleartic - that was a wedding present from a birder friend Annnd I have the Collins Birds of the World which is mint because it's so damn big it's a coffee table book!

No rarity photos - Karl is, by his own admission, not great at birds of prey, better at waders and warblers... and he was looking up kestrel vs sparrowhawk in flight

Re: The Birder

Sparrowhawk in flight, Flap flap glide is a good ID feature, im good at turning pigeons into BOPs and plastic bags into Egrets

Re: The Birder

Hehe! I'm good at BOPs - but I didn't see it - as soon as he said it was circling and hovering over the garden I was like 'kestrel'. He always has to check though Mind - shouldn't laugh... he is so good with stuff like waders and gulls and warblers, I don't know what we'd do without him - because I'm certainly hopeless!

While we're on the subject of turning plastic bags into egrets... I once turned a pair of leaves at a distance with particular sunlight caught on them into.... Azure Tits! Idiot much?
