White Tailed Sea Eagle - In my Garden

Didn't think I'd ever hear myself saying that but here you go

Crappy photographs I know but who cares - I did well to get the camera out in time.

Kind of took me by surprise as it lifted off from the trees at the end of my garden.

It flew off in the opposite direction before gaining height and coming back towards me high above the trees. I managed a few very ropey shots if only so I could double check what I suspected to be a White Tailed Sea Eagle.

Anyway - eventually it sailed away with a couple of 'little' buzzards giving it what for.

Jammy I know

Buzzards or 'tourist's eagles' nest in the trees at the end of the garden and on the cliff accross the field so I'm used to them being around.

That old saying - If you 'think' you saw an Eagle - it was probably a Buzzard' came to mind because the second I saw this thing there was no doubt whatsover.

Re: White Tailed Sea Eagle - In my Garden

Well done Phil! They are lovely aren't they? There's no mistaking one when you see it - they are so massive! I have some nice ones from Fota - sadly when I've seen them in the wild I've never been close enough for any sort of shot at all. Hoping to go looking for them next week actually!

Re: White Tailed Sea Eagle - In my Garden

Well done Phil for managing to get the camera out so fast. I have sometimes heard the drone of a Merlin engine in the distance but can never get the camera quick enough or it has the wrong lens on by which time the plane has gone

You are so lucky to have such a wonderful sighting from your garden
