My latest pc build

I just love building pc's, especially for myself. For my latest I chose componants that had no fans at all (motherboard, graphics card, psu, and for the CPU & case, noiseless fans.

Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherbord (fanless)
Intel Core 2 duo E6850 3.0GHZ (zalman CNPS9500A heatsink and fan)
Gigabyte Radeon x1600 pci express graphics card (fanless)
1TB (2X500GB) western digital sata II HDD (RAID 0)
3GB Geil 800mhz pc6400 ddr2 memory (4.4.4.12)
Creative X-FI platinum fatality sound card
Zalman silent 600w psu
Asus quiet track dvd re-writer (lightscribe)
Akasa internal card reader
Antek case
Eizo 16" TFT (time for an upgrade)
Vista 32bit

Western digital 500GB external firewire 800 hdd
maxtor external 400GB hdd firewire 400( soon to be replaced with esata hdd)

As you can see, I like my pc's to be quiet there is a lot of hdd space there too, but I really do need it for video, and audio editing as well as photographic

Re: My latest pc build

Very Nice! My next upgrade is another 2GB of ram, now that I have Vista 64bit might as well make use of it lol.

I might go for a fanless solution next time Although this PC is not to bad, my last PC made a ton of noise! But none of them were in comparison to my xbox 360 - that was like a helicopter lol (PS3 is quiet as a mouse).

What does your monitor look like? Don't think I've seen the Eizos before.
Kit 1
Nikon D300
Nikon 55-200mm VR
Kit 2
Nikon D40
Nikon 18-55mm

Re: My latest pc build

Those little motherboard fans are the worst culprits for noise polution, my last motherboard (Abit ic7-max3) had a northbridge and OTES fan that were screamers lol. the northbridge fan could be changed easily enough, but the tiny OTES fan could not be bought in any pc shop, Abit was the only supplier. Thankfully most top tier mb manufacturers have better thermal solutions now(copper heatpipes etc) and dont need fans.

This is what my monitor looks like

Canon 5D MKII
Canon 400mm f5.6 L
Canon 70-200mm f4.0 L

Cheers I hear Eizo are a pretty good make but yeah, upgrade to a 24/27" and you won't look back!

Thankfully my new m/board has copper heatpipes too

What other production do you do with it then? It's quite a meaty system

I'd miss that lot too lol, wow, a korg triton workstation now thats a keyboard and a half. I use a mother keyboard with a Roland sc88pro sound module. How do you like your monitors? i've not heard of that make before, but i'd imagine they must be pretty good , going by the rest of your kit
I'm using edirol ma-20d's, they do the job, but I would like something a bit better.

What type of music did you record/compose? , I record mostly my own compositions.

Looks like they have stopped making the Absolute 2's but they were favoured by the dance music crowd all those years ago:

They were rated as good as the yamahas, but at a fraction of the price. British build, and the quality was excellent (very solid units). I used them mainly for mid and hi's.

Also tell a like about the Korg it's the LE version!

I was mainly into Drum & Bass, although dabbled into general dance music too Would love to get back into it tho.
