HDR from one RAW file?

I read somewhere that if you shoot in RAW, you can do HDR by simply opening a number of files each with different exposure settings (ie -2, -1, -, +1, +2 etc).

Anyone tried it and does it work as well?

Re: HDR from one RAW file?

I was actually reading about this very thing earlier so i'll swipe it......

While it is possible to create a type of HDR image from a single Raw file, to gain the true HDR with minimal noise, it is best to shoot multiple exposures using the AEB or bracketing function built into most cameras, or to simply shoot a range of exposures manually in conjunction with a tripod.

lots more blah blah...........think they say that you then have have more image info giving you more options wihen creating the HDR image

Re: HDR from one RAW file?

3 Raws are better than 1 but you an do an HDR pic from a single exposure , you do run the risk of extra noise and less definition though
