Love the framing and poses Jeff - but the pp on the skin tones is overdone imo :-/

Re: Vicky

On a proper monitor now and would have to agree with that. The diffuse glow looks a bit to strong and the whites have gone in 2. I think the best pose is possibly 3 although the crop looks a little tight and she appears to have a hairy chest at the bottom of the frame. (I'm sure she doesn't really... )

Re: Vicky

1
Good focus and catchlights.
Not so keen on the pose or composition though, she seems a little awkward to me.
She also looks a little too pink but I am on my little lappy so colours probably aren't accurate.

2.
You have catclights again which is good. I also like that this looks more relaxed though eye contact from this position might have been good. The muted tones suit he pose nicely.
Not so keen on the crop though. I woud loose a little off the bottom to put her eyes on the thirds line then loose a little from the right and give her some space to the left to look into.
I really like bright skin, but it looks to me as if it may have gone a little to far in places.
I would try soften the harsh line of the branch coming out of her shoulder as it keeps drawing my attention.
Not sure about the lighting, it looks a little 'flashy' to me.

3.
Catchlights again which is good but I think she still needs more light to the eyes.
Not keen on the slight glow in any of them but it is definately way OTT in this one - for my taste.
The tight crop, with her so central feel a little uncomfortable to me. Think I would prefer to see her more to one side and certainly have the eyes more on the upper thirds line.
Not sure how much I like the view of her armpit. As the crop is so tight I keep looking at all that underarm skin - and the hairy chest now that BC has pointed it out!
The floating braceletted wrist to one side is quite distracting too.

Re: Vicky

Thanks for the critiques. All taken on board and appreciated. It is a massive learning curve and so many aspects to the whole process, especially the PP. I regard all of my work as WIP with better to come, hopefully.

Vicky was thrilled with the photos so all is not bad, incidentally this was the first time she has attempted any form of modelling.

Jeff.

PS. The 'hairy chest' was the top of her pink dress.

Re: Vicky

Glad I haven't offended Jeff.
I was only so critical because you asked for critique and that is the same kind of response I would hope to get - its how we learn.
I am sure Vicky was thrilled, she looks gorgeous in them and you did a good job - just room for technical improvement!

Re: Vicky

Agree with what has been said, the skin is too PP'd for my taste, I think the second shot is the best she looks the most relaxed and natural in this shot. I agree with Em, that the last shot my eye keep going to armpit for some reason

Having said that I do think it's nice set, and if the framing and the PP were slightly different, they'd be fab

Which slider did you use in Lightroom for the skin? or was it a preset, as sometimes you really need to tweak them once you've applied them, as they can work on some shots as is and not others. xx

Re: Vicky

Moonie, thanks for your comments. PP is a bit like the black art to me sometimes, but I'm working on it. The skin smoothing in all three was done with the clarity slider, in #2 I used the preset Aged Photo and tweaked the brightness and contrast a little. #3 was similar but used the sepia preset.
