D300s ISO handling.

Thought some of you might be interested to see the ISO handling on the D300s - I'm very impressed indeed. Obviously, there's some noise at ISOs over about 400 - but it onlye *really* started to be a problem at about 2000 which is very good indeed - considering I'm used to the D80 which is not much cop after about 500!

I know it's not a patch on the D700 or D3 etc - but I'm still pretty impressed with it.

These are all of a crocodile, indoors, no flash, 50mm f1.8.

1. - ISO 200.

2. - ISO 400.

3. - ISO 640.

4. - ISO 1000.

5. - ISO 1250.

6. - ISO 2000.

Excuse camera shake etc - and the photos are completely unedited.

xx

Re: D300s ISO handling.

yeah! I'm really happy with it - I can't see too many situations where I need over about 1500 - though, even at 2000 the images are still perfectly acceptable!

Re: D300s ISO handling.

Hehe! I wanted a D300 - Karl went to UK with money for it (they are fearfully expensive here) - checked they were still the same price online, and put his money in his UK bank to pay for it. Got home after doing that, went online to buy, and every shop had removed them. He tried calling one company, who said sorry, they've been discontinued, and they don't have any. So - he hunted, and found a Nikon dealer on Amazon, who was still advertising them. So he bought one. Got the box in the post a couple of days later - it was a D300s - the chap had obviously decided to cut his losses, and send us the upgrade for the price of a D300 because his website was out of date! Sooo - I haves me a D300s!
