Show us your macro shots / lens advice

I'm seriously thinking about a macro lens as I'm a bit fed up with the limited amount of time I have these days for getting out and about doing landscapes.

There's so much I could do even in the garden with a lens that allows me to get nice and close so I wondered about a thread for close up pictures and also some information about the lenses you have or even the lenses that you think I should consider ?

Re: Show us your macro shots / lens advice

It's a lovely crisp lens - great shots Ca! Note for Nikon owners, Nikon do a cracking 60mm too.

One thing to consider about macro lenses, is if you get a longer one (eg 90 or above) you won't need to get so close to the creepy crawlies - very handy for things like bees and wasps

Re: Show us your macro shots / lens advice

Carole - I forgot to ask - is it an EFS lens or an EF ?

I only ask because I'm reluctant to get any more EFS mount lenses as one day I will be moving full frame which the EFS won't fit.

Re: Show us your macro shots / lens advice

I am incredibly happy with mine - I know 99% of my photos taken with it are tagged, so a quick search will show you the sort of thing it can do - I have some more taken this weekend. When I get around to sorting them out (really busy atm) I'll put some up for you to see!

I can't fault the Nikkor Macro lens - AF is not easy to use with it, but then, I use 90% manual anyway - and it has the added bonus of manual override - so you haven't got to be flicking switches all the time, just literally start working in manual - I *love* that feature, and use it all the time. The length at 105mm is ideal for working with bugs, but not as good for work with extension tubes (lately I'm enjoying using the 50mm with ETs - but then - that's very hard to do - but can give some promising shots.
