Studio lighting (One for DaisyChains! ;))

Right... picking brains again...

I have this photoshoot coming up, and have decided after much thought to put the D700 on hold again for a bit and finally buy the studio lighting I need/want.

I had a play with some at camera club, but sadly, no-one was particularly helpful about what it was, or what I'd need to get... so I'm basically stuck without a clue as to what I should be buying.

I need a full breakdown of the equipment that's available, that I may need, and where I'm likely to be able to get it from at 'fairly' short notice

Any help hugely appreciated!

Ooooh... found these... is this any good:

Bearing in mind I am also hopeless at Ebay and buying on the net generally (ah sod it - I'm rubbish at buying in general, and always get the wrong thing)!

Re: Studio lighting (One for DaisyChains! ;))

I just got a calumet lighting kit (2x750 watts and 1 350 watts with stands, umbrella's, softbox, remote triggers, etc, etc, for 1500usd) (it's similar to a bowens system)
very nice, but heavy. Only used it for one shoot so far...results varied, but it's more on my inexperience w/ that type of set up....

if you are gonna get a kit, get it before hand..and practice...get to know it...
i just didnt have time, and i was running around too much in a panic...but I managed somehow...LoL

Re: Studio lighting (One for DaisyChains! ;))

Hi. I did get a set a while back from Lencarta. Very pleased with them. The only hassle I had was putting the soft box together lol
Under £400 too. They have just upgraded some of their products so take a peek at their website.

Not sure I could afford them after looking at your thread about them Tommy! But I will have a look! They can be something I can dream about at least
