Re: Serious creative block...

This thread could go on forever with me explaining why I can't do certain things. Taxi = €15 for 5 miles, €30 to go to the shop and back... erm NO! - out of the question. I have the money - it's just not something I'm willing to part with for that length of journey

Tractor... ahem. Indeed. Requires a tractor licence for a start.

Bike - yes I could do bike. The roads however are lethal here, and I'm not a confident cyclist.

Re: Serious creative block...

Laura,

I was like this a few weeks ago, everything came out cr@p, now it is coming out a little better, I think it is normal to go through rubbish picture stages, and then you usually come back, better than ever.

Is it inspiration you are lacking???

Do you need a mini mission?

Your mission if you accept is to go and take two pics of items, objects in your house, that normally you would never photograph, to make an interesting still life X XXX

Also, remember you have had a tough few days, that is bound to make you feel down, so a huge Hug XXXX Take care XX

Re: Serious creative block...

Guys - do not underestimate my 'detox' (although I'm gonna stop calling it that - too many people have ripped the term off!).

The thing that detox does is get your body back in great working order - i.e. like nature intended, which in turn makes it easier for you body to cope with (and fix) things like depression.

Trust me I am talking from experience.

If only I had a tenth of a penny everytime I could have fixed someones 'problems' with the detox I would be a billionaire!!!

Re: Serious creative block...

Launa, I do understand how you are feeling with regards to your photographs, it is nonsense, of course, you continue to take very good shots but you are fed up with what is available to you subject wise.

You and I both, guess that is why we finish up being experts in birds I don't know what to suggest, if you are unable to get out you will have to try to think or design ways of finding things to shoot. Try food or utensils, how about anything that is decaying, living in an old Farmhouse there must be loads of that.

There is nothing you can do about the rain, and I know that in Eire it can rain like it has forgotten how to stop. However your camera should cope with a bit of damp although I would not take the Bigma out in the rain the Nikon stuff should be alright as long as you don't put it in a puddle. Shots of rotting material dripping sounds a total no no but I would not be surprised if you would not be able to turn it into something interested.

Hope you are able to get out soon and find some pasture new, how about a bike, could you ride one? They are available for not to much money and at least you could view the rain from a different angle. Will be thinking of you mooching round your home whilst I am mooching round mine - have a trip out to the hospital on Thursday but they are not that keen on my taking the camera and even less so if I try to use it

Re: Serious creative block...

Awww thanks guys I will take up all missions thrown at me (including the ones in PM which I am also very grateful for ) and really try and drag myself out of it!

And Azz - as soon as I can go shopping and buy the foods I'm allowed for your detox, I will try it!

All my photo's at the moment are coming out rubbish, not that they've ever been that good and really putting me off photography!

Not much help am I?

Re: Serious creative block...

Hey both of you don't be so down! You are both alive aren't you? Alive means you can do something and find inspiration! Maybe just a little blip right now! Zounds why not rediscover your old photographs and play with post processing, photoshopping some of your pictures, have a home clearout, change some things around, sell a few things and enjoy photographing them for Ebay?! PerroD', sounds like you need a partner or friend, maybe a little lonely? Sure there are loads of lonely people not far from you if only you could bump into them! Come on the pair of you there are loads less fortunate! Best of luck both, I appreciate a few words won't change anything but the same glass is either half full or half empty depending on your view point and there is always someone making the best of worse situations.

Re: Serious creative block...

Thanks BC That's one of the worst bits, knowing that there are so many millions (read billions) of people less fortunate than me... makes me feel guilty for being down. Ah well - I'm sure I'll snap out of it!
