Im so Mad!!!

Just been over to ASDA to get some prints and she has just grilled me infront of a massive que of people about copyright!!! Iv never been so embarrassed!!!

Apparantly, because my pics have my logo on them, i have to prove "Kanikula" is me! How the hell to you prove that!! BUT if they didnt (have my logo) then i would be fine!!! WTF!!!

The proof i need, ...... a letter head!! How the hell is that proof LOL

I had a right go at her! Patronising mare!! Then at the end of it all, she gave me a copyright release form to fill out (why she couldnt have done this first i dont know!) and said "Hope you realise we will keep this on fie for 5 years" ARGH!! I just replied "good, i dont have to go through all this cr@p again then do i!!!" and walked off!

Im fuming!

Re: Im so Mad!!!

I hate Asda! It is the WORST supermarket imo. Not just for customer service but the quality of their food! If you can call it that!! Not to mention they think they can write their own laws as they go along (once they tried to tell me games/dvds only have a 28 day warranty ) I just reported them to trading standards!

I really do detest them!

/rant over

Do you have to pay for prints up front? If not I would buy a cheap mem card, save some jpegs on it, saying stuff like:

ASDA IS THE WORST SUPERMARKET EVER!

And let them print it out and keep it for themselves

Re: Im so Mad!!!

I know the way the person handled it wasn't right but so many places don't check so if you got a paying job and someone just copied them and went in and got them you would loose out in re orders.

I would however go to the manager and tell her what b*tch she was and how she went on a mini power trip in front of other paying customers that not only hindered the situation but showed asda in a bad light.

Re: Im so Mad!!!

Well thats what bugged me the most Jane. I understand what its like to be the one asking for id or whatever, but argh i could have strangled her! All she had to ask was if i had proof of copyright, point out what i needed and then hand me the release form. simple.

Re: Im so Mad!!!

Not necessarily handled well by Asda agreed - but on the flip side - if someone had your pictures and was trying to print them without your permission... Then this 'mare' as you called her was actually only doing her job, and potentially saving your works as a result. Yes you were put out by her questions, and annoyed by her responses, but actually she was doing the right thing in ensuring the original artists work (in this case you) was being rightfully protected... Very few stores would do that - so no matter how badly the 'mare' handled it - she actually did the right thing.... Maybe a lesson or two in service delivery wouldn't go amiss.

Re: Im so Mad!!!

I hate Asda - their customer service is appalling.

Last weekend my son (aged 20 today) went to the kiosk to get his usual cigs and a DVD. The woman that served him does so every weekend and admitted knowing his age (after) but insisted that he gave her proof. He didn't have any but said 'You know how old I am, you served me every week for the last two year, blah, blah'. She refused, he was angry and told her to keep the penny change from the DVD and walked away without his fags or receipt. When he got home he found the DVD box was empty

Went back to ask for DVD, she called the manager, manager said no receipt/no DVD, son got angry and told them to check ther CCTV - woman behind counter hiding from him this time CCTV checked and manager announces that it was clear that no DVD was put in case and receipt wasn't given. Son was given the DVD and an apolpgy from store manager. Bet that shop assistant gets a telling off today.

Anyway the irony was that he didn't need proof to but an 18 DVD but couldn't prove that he was over the correct age to buy ciggies

Re: Im so Mad!!!

Not wishing to defend Asda - but the laws on cigarette sales also changed this week.. And I'd guess that head office have issued some kind of note to stores that they need to challenge everyone for proof of ID, particularly as the local council officials will be out there trying to catch them out... Did you know it is now illegal to buy cigarettes at the age of 16? It's now risen to 18.

Maybe they thought your son looked old enough under the old laws - but maybe too young under the new - again the shop assistant was doing her job, but there are ways and means of communicating it, and dealing with it in a professional manner...Maybe it's a compliment for your son that he looks younger than he actually is?

To be fair the new law change hasn't been that widely publicised...

I know it has risen to 18 for the ciggies but she still let him buy the 18 DVD so she must have accepted that he was old enough - I supposed that's what I find so funny about it all
