AF focus point selection broken?
Was out today with the camera doing some photography... and very suddenly the D300s stopped letting me select the focus point, it's fixed in the middle and will not move. I didn't realise how heavily I relied on it so this is a massive blow...Anyone got any ideas? It can be a total nightmare getting cameras fixed over here

Something in the menu? Have you tried re-setting the camera back to factory defaults?

I know nothing of Nikon, but have you tried removing all batteries, then replacing and see what happens?

Will try to reset the settings, though I don't think that'll help - I think it's an electrical problem... I put it on the thingy where it picks its own focus point, and that works. And the button to select works (because it's the same button used to scroll through taken shots)... but they don't work together! :/
Definitely not something I've done, as it was very sudden in between two shots :/ did try everything with taking batteries out, changing lenses etc... will reset, but I fear it won't help.
If it's any use, months back the shutter release button became very very dodgy with AF - you have to practically press it all the way (sometimes so much so that it actually fires the shutter) in order to get it to AF, so I've had to use the back AF button :/

OK... news is that it'll be about £220 to repair (and Karl has to go back to UK to get it - so whatever travel costs) - and it'll be ready in about 3-4 weeks.
