Back into landscape mode...

For one reason or another I've just not had the time or (if I'm honest) the inclination to get out and about doing landscape photography for what seems like an age.

Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed the bird photography but I've treated myself to a new 10 stop ND filter and a remote (mislaid my other one) ready for the magical change as Autumn takes over.

I've a few ideas for landscapes that I've probably been guilty of overlooking in the past in favour of more well know locations.

It's certainly nice to feel my mojo tingling again anybody else got any aspirations for the weeks and months ahead ?

Re: Back into landscape mode...

Although you know landscape is my week spot, I have missed the landscapes you provide.

You give me inspiration and off I go and come back with ''rubbish'' and I know the photos are there because Dartmoor is beautiful it is just I have not got the eye, where you have,.

Future stuff for me will be my son [or course] and Theo.

I too have lost it a bit lately but looking forward to the Autumn colours for my portraits.

Re: Back into landscape mode...

You make me feel a bit guilty Phil, as I work at a place which has a potential shot around every corner, but I'm just unable to know where to frame or compose the best shot from.

I think I need to go on a course or something in order to get some idea how to do a good landscape.

I'd love to see some Dartmoor shots - I'm sure you can do it justice. Just take your time, it won't move

I toyed with the idea of doing a course a wee while ago Ken although I'm terrible at committing myself to anything too stuctured.

Re: Back into landscape mode...

Lens wise or bird wise? Lens wise I'm probably getting a newer, nicer version of the Bigma, or maybe just the 150-500 - no way I can afford a really nice lens - not in this lifetime.

Am hoping to get some decent flight shots of Lapwing this year - have failed utterly to get close enough every year (and probably will this year too!) - also hoping to go back to Tacumshin and photograph Bearded Reedlings in January/February.
