A very wet and windy week

So much for the heatwave then

By all accounts the weather changed for the worse the day before we arrived and we ended up with a week of low cloud, horizontal rain and gale force winds. Being fairly reliant on the boat (which couldn't operate) we were a bit limited in terms of where we could get to but the sun did come out albeit briefly on Thursday evening and again on Friday afternoon so I did manage to at least get a few fairly hurried shots.

Had a great time with the family though regardless of the weather and with any luck I'll have some pictures to show.

Re: A very wet and windy week

Actually Phil, for some bizarre reason I have thought about you on and off all week when the weather forecast has been on. Sounded a bit dodgy up there, but as you say, holiday with the family was enough.

Re: A very wet and windy week

Thanks BC

It did get a bit rough at times but at the end of the day the house was snug so we were fine. Family walks kind of went out of the window after the first attempt when we were caught in a vile storm and Fiona turned blue despite being kitted out appropriately in the backpack.

The hills were out of bounds but I did manage a long wet walk down to Sandaig (Camusfearna) - home and resting place to 'Ring of Bright Water' author Gavin Maxwell - somebody who's books and fairly troubled life have always fascinated me.

Re: A very wet and windy week

We've had bizarre weather swing with 97F record highs to 67F record highs, and that was just this week. It remains dry at least but very windy. Summer in Oregon is primarily dry so I'll just live with the temperature swings. We had hat record high 97 and the same time it was 57 just 60 miles away on the coast. It sounds like you weather blip didn't ruin your vacation so all is well.
