Re: What do you do when you are....

Since you're buying all these lenses Jack you must have a camera body in mind. What are you going to get?

As far as what I would do without a camera, I have 3 hobbies: Motorcycling, Computers & Photography. It's raining a lot here now so I would make shorter motorcycle rides to dealerships lusting over a new bike or continue learning new techniques online at the Elements site I contract.

Shame about the herony I stumbled upon today with over 200 (YES +200) herons assembled in an area 500m sq... Hopefully they will all still be there in about 3 weeks time - so long as we dont have rain!!!

I've brought the 55-200VR, a 50mm f1.8, an 18-135mm (hopefully), and I'm about to order the Sigma 10-20mm Nikon fit. Also the grip/battery pack as I prefer using one on a camera. Anything else will have to wait until after Xmas. (I have a list - believe me!)

Mmm it would appear the use of Mooniepoos is spreading

The sigma 10-20mm is on my list too , for landscapes, but it is last on my list, I am also buying a battery grip too. I want a macro lens before that. I am, also getting the 50mm Don't think I will getting any long zooms though as I don't really do wildlife stuff.

Can't wait to see what you produce with this camera xxx

Re: What do you do when you are....

Going the Nikkon route eh Jack??

Whole new selection of glass for you then.

Got any canon fit stuff going cheap.

How about buying a notebook and a pencil, going on a recce, and writing down all the locations and shots you would like to take when the new toys arrive??.

Good luck with the new kit, I am sure you will do some good work with it.

I look forward to your Nikkon taken entries on SC's comp.
Looks like I'm going to be running it next year.
Broadband coming (oh how I hope it all works out) on Tuesday.

'fraid so Ian - I looked at so many different Canon options particularly the 50D - I'm a big fan of Canon per se, but the Nikon D300/D700 got it beat hands down every time. Canon seem to be producing some great gear but IMO their latest crop (excluding the 5D mk II) seem like compromises to keep up with the competition. Whereas I think Nikon are actually listening to what their customer base is asking them to produce. The D300 is for all intents and purpose exactly the same as the pro D3 but without the integral grip and cropped frame. I'm excited about using it.

Whole new selection of glass for you then.

Ha - yes indeed, I've started buying already - I think i've got my initial elements covered, I'll get used to the camera and then decide on other lenses based on how it performs. The other deciding factor to go Nikon is because I have access to a wide range of pro Nikon kit through the MOD - they are pretty much now exclusively Nikon.

Got any canon fit stuff going cheap.

I advertised my Canon gear as a complete kit on the HQ BFC intranet at 1330 hours and had a buyer for the full asking price at 1340 hrs - since then I could have sold it at least 10 times over.

How about buying a notebook and a pencil, going on a recce, and writing down all the locations and shots you would like to take when the new toys arrive??.

as you can see from my last post to moonie - that's exactly what I've been doing today. Except I have been using my phone camera to record venues and shooting positions. the bonus of doing this I found was that I didnt hang around in one place taking 'speculative' pictures from one place and managed to cover a fair bit of ground.

Good luck with the new kit, I am sure you will do some good work with it.

I hope so - once i've got to grips with all of the bells & whistles on it

Cool - an SC photo rep! LOL
I've not entered this month BRITSH wildlife! Kinda rules me out as I've not been in a position to take any BRITISH wildlife pics this month!! Quite frankly it never ceases to amaze me on what the members vote on! (Arse-ends of deer seems to be doing well - LOL)

Broadband coming (oh how I hope it all works out) on Tuesday.

Great - cant wait to see the work you have been doing with the 450!
moonie - i recently sold my P&S. I have just brought one of my daughters a Sony Cyber Shot DSC W300 - I might get one for myself, they are cracking little P&S's - 13 mp with manual options.
