Interested in Maternity Photography

Do any of you do Maternity photography and newborn?

I have been doing loads of surfing about this, and I am really interested, it 's lovely you follow the couple through the pregnancy, and then do a new born photoshoot.

The images of the heavily pregnant Mum are stunning, they are shot so nice usually with the bump totally exposed, Dads hands on the bump, that sort of thing, other children with their head on the bump. I saw a pic today that I just adored . A big masculine hand holding the baby up into a shaft of light in a dark room, it was gorgeous.

But I really like the idea of photographing the journey till birth. A couple of the photographers did, the wedding, pregnancy and newborn of the same family.

Does sound interesting, but you'd need to be quite dedicated to follow em around for 9 months. ( lol I know I shouldn't make light of it sorry Suzi!)

Pregnant bellies freak me out. I dont think i could get into that line of work!.

Oh dear I didn't explain very well, from what I understand the photographers do a shoot when heavily pregnant, about 7/8 months and then another within the first month of the babies birth, But it seems some of the photographers were hired to do their weddings too.

When the photographer is booked it is for a before shoot, and then after shoot.It appears to be quite big in the States

It is big in the states but british people are a tad more reserved.

What happens in a maturnity ward without beds?

They all have to stand and deliver!
