Nikon 55-200mm OR 70-300mm

OK guys go some money for my birthday and its burning a hole. I was all set to get the 55-200mm nikon VR lens with my money.

BUT

Some of my nearest and dearest were very generous so is it worth the extra to get the 70-300mm?

For any newcomers that dont know me my interests are weddings and portraits mainly but this forum has got me interested in flowers and other stuff.

Any advice greatly received.

Re: Nikon 55-200mm OR 70-300mm

Don't know Jols, I use a 300mm because I take dogs from the ringside but would your sort of work need the extra length. May be as you are now interested in flowers a 55-200 and a nice macro would be a better choice for your interests.

Oh Gosh Jols, I'm no expert, and I don't use Nikon. Mel is a macro freak but think she is a Canon person, MS has been having fun of late with a Macro lens with very good results, may be she will have something useful to say.

Getting a good flash is a must for a wedding photographer Jols! I think there is one for sale in the for sale section too

I would get a flash first tbh, then decide on a lens
