Re: Street Photography

Smile at Chris Dev ... very good .

Welcome ... I love street street photography , by prefer to shoot from a distance , unless I am in a foreign country .

Back to your pics ... Did you aim for the blocked out shadows .

I like the man with the balloons .. but you cut his foot off .

I like the bus shot , but not the angle ( just my pet hate , maybe if I see more of it , I will eventually do it my self ... who knows )

Re: Street Photography

hi thanks everyone

the blocked out out shadows shot was took under a old railway bridge so the only light was a street light.

as for the angle it was a chance shot walking past the bus stop

the man with the balloons was taken in the Chinese new year so that again was rushed as it was busy as lol

i personally like to get up close i think it helps to bring the viewer closer to subject and engages them more as with a telephoto it never feels quite the same almost like your a voyeur lol that's only my opinion lol

Re: Street Photography

Hi Chris. You have done a fine job here. Getting in close is a challenge in the street but well worth the effort. The freedom of cropping adds to the 'business' and casualness of the genre. You have made some wise choices with regard to the use of colour as well. Life in the streets is full of drama in spite of its familiarity to us all. Capturing and displaying this drama effectively is a respectable skill. The tight cropping on the first does justice to the story. The viewer might feel they are actually in the cue.the relationship between the balloon man and the youths is well established by the framing and cropping.
I'm sure you have studied many of the street photographers' works. This is evident in your style. Each of them uses a number of techniques to achieve their results. My favourite is Doisneau and Brassai.
Great work. I'll be in Manchester in a month. Maybe I'll see you in the street. If you see an Assie pointing a Nikon at you say hi.
Cheers
Tom
