Thanks for that... Sadly my photos always come out over exposed and I don't have a faster shutter speed

so the lower the f numer, the bigger the hole, so lighter the picture? and what the higher/lower shutter speed numbers?

In theory yes Your F numbers (aperture) control light and Depth of Field http://www.yophotographer.com/page.php?t=27

If for example you were shooting with a shutter speed of 1/125 and it was to dark, but you dont want to slow it down, you could widen up your aperture to let in more light.

Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO all work together to obtain the corect exposure - its not just the one - Think in terms of a pizza - The base - The tomato - The topping - You havnt got a pizza untill all 3 are put together

is 1/125 fast then? so if you did 1/125, then added a low f number and higher iso number, you'd get a better action shot?
