As you were thinking these would look good on a christmas card i added a wintery texture and just thought u might wanna take a look dunno if u will like it but anyway...

You said you spot metered on the bird on the first one...how did you meter the others?

I thought I'd used 'partial' metering on the others but I've checked and they were all spot metered.

Oh, so if they were all spot metered then how come only the first had a blown background? Just wondering as metering is new to me and I'm eager to learn!

It might just be because all there is in the background is pure white snow where the others have a mixture of things. Whilst it's the same aperture - It's a slightly slower shutter speed than the others which will have given a different exposure.
