Re: Rose

Wow, this is a tough one. If I were shooting this same rose I might have chosen a different angle for my composition. A profile view of a rose bud leaves me wishing I were standing in front of the flower instead of the side.

Re: Rose

I'd love to comment - but what were you trying to achieve?

Personally, I'd like to see a tighter crop, some burning to add dimension to the bud, and a little more saturation. Are you handholding your camera when shooting? you may benefit from using a tripod or steadying yourself before sloooooooooowly pressing the shutter release.

Re: Rose

Nice shot AL

If I were taking the shot, I'd prob try to cut out strong colours in the background, as they detract from the main focus a bit. Nice shot tho

Re: Rose

Really nice depth of field Angela

I think the composition is off. I would have gone with a portrait framing an gone in a little tighter,. I personally like the colours in the background. It shows that you have chosen to isolate the subject from the group.

Re: Rose

*laughs* by all means if there had'nt been a rather large rose bush in front of it, and an area of English Heritage garden they would appreciate me standing on behind it, i may have varied the shot. Unfortunately i'm scared of marching through garden.

I do get what is being said though- trial and error.
