Have you downloaded Belarc and done a printout? this saves having to open up your computer. If so on the first page on the right hand side you have System Model
underneath Main Circuit Board
and under that Memory Modules which is where you should look . I suspect it will say something like

Slot "DIMM0" has 512 RAM
Slot "DIMM1" is empty
Slot "DIMM2" is empty
Slot "DIMM3" is empty

This is where the extra RAM is added

So you should end up after extra RAM of 4 GIG something like this

Slot "DIMM0" has 1024mb
Slot "DIMM1" has 1024mb
Slot "DIMM2" has 1024mb
Slot "DIMM3" has 1024mb

or if only 2 slots

Slot "DIMM0" has 2048 mb
Slot "DIMM1" has 2048 mb

Ram looks like the culprit - is it a laptop or normal pc?

Try using http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ to play the video first - you never know it may be a software issue...

I did say ages back - the problem is windows media player works fine on everything else! I don't have a printer so can't do a printout - and even if I could, can't afford to upgrade anything with the PC at the moment anyway!

I would say the RAM is probably not the culprit since the only issue is WMP.

Laura, your computer specs are just fine for the playback of HD video from the D300s, which I believe is 720p, higher resolutions than that and your pc might struggle.

Now for editing HD videos, your pc is under par and would need to be upgraded, ie, dual or quad processor and up to 3GB of ram if using a 32bit OS, or if using a 64 OS then as much memory as your motherboard can take (and you can afford also, another HDD for storing your HD videos. A better graphics card won't go wrong either.

But seeing as you don't want to upgrade then you will be lucky to get away with minimum editing on your pc. But will be absolutley fine for HD playback.

Since wmp seems to be causing sync probs with your footage, I can only suggest installing the latest version of wmp which you will find here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...Downloads.aspx see if that helps.

Thanks Grant - I don't really want to do any editing anyway - it's not my forte - this is really just a bit of a play about, and nice for recording some band stuff. I know Justin (our piano player) can do any editing he wants to do on his mac anyway - so that's OK.

I will download the new WMP - was thinknig of doing that anyway.
