Re: Serious creative block...

Zounds depression is something you cant just "snap out of" Its one of the worse medical illnesses you can have, if your head was falling off or you had a rather large bruise somewhere, you would get as much sympathy as you needed, but because you cant see depression, there is no sympathy! which make the sufferer even worse!! Time heals all, so they say, so take one day at a time, grab the camera every where you go, you just never know what you might come up with!!

Great response Eileen xxxxx

Laura there is a big difference between being a bit down and having depression, I had it bad after having Luke,so if you find you perhaps need someone to talk to who has been there, my PM box is open hun xxxxx

Take each day as it comes, and talk, if you can't talk to someone, write things down, so you get it off your chest XXXX

Eileen is right, depression effects every part of your life, it can be awful and make you feel physically ill too, so take care, and I am good listener

Thanks guys - but it's not really depression - more a depression in my work :/ I just think I'm stuck in a rut atm.

Re: Serious creative block...

I think there are a lot of people like that Zoundz. On paper I have a brilliant job that many people would want. I still get fed up and lacking interest sometimes due to other people frustrating my plans or just sometimes 'make an effort for what' 'whats the point'? Thing is though life is what you make it in your own way and within your own abilities and boundaries. Unlikely anyone can come along and magically change it for us. Harsh as it may seem I look at it that I basically have to find my own way out of a hole. over-simplifying it a little, but I am where I am as a consequence of my own choices and decisions. From others a little empathy and understanding is great, but upbeat and inspiration can turn a mood around and offer choice. I have every sympathy for clinical depression. I have seen many results of the consequences of it first hand. You never said it was and thankfully it isn't.

Hopefully thinking hat on, some sunny weather and somne good news and you will find some good things to focus on which makes the bad a little more palatable! Intelligent beings get bored and are quite demanding for new interests and stimulation. Life doesn't come with any promises it will be interesting and I guess years ago all we would have been concerned with was staying alive and finding food, shelter and protecting the offspring. Now thats a lot more simple and less demanding we have to fill our 'spare' time with jobs that are often unfufilling and seek hobbies to add interest. Ah well...that's my take on it. It's why I wait for Saturday, the only time really for leisure photography so long as nothing else is expected of me. I hope it works out whatever is the root cause of your disquiet...

Re: Serious creative block...

{{HUG}}

We'll be over as soon as that goddamn ferry is back up and running, complete with car so we can go places.

In the meantime...maybe that bus is the answer (plus taxi to get there)? I know it's a lot of money, and you're saving for the D700, but one trip out a month when the weather is good would probably do you a lot of good, give you something new to get pics of and help you get your mojo back!

You also have the luxury of picking any day of the week when the weather is good...I'm confined to weekends when nine times out of ten it'll be peeing down, and the sun will inevitable make an appearance on Monday when I'm incarcerated in the lab
