Sensor cleaning on 350D

I've had this camera since it was launched 3 years ago, never had probs with dirt on the sensor so did'nt bother to do a cleanup.

Anyways, I'm fiddling about in the nenu settings today and I noticed there's a sensor cleaning function in there never knew that so I did the cleanup.

Honestly - Boys and their toys

The sensor clean function on the 350D only activates the mirror lock up though, you still have to clean the sensor yourself unfortunately

I thought about that G, but there's a separate selection in the menu for mirror lockup, when I selected "clean sensor" i had 2 options, "cancel or ok" I selected OK then waited for a bit, stuck the camera to my lug-hole to hear if anything was going on but could'nt hear a thing.

Re: Sensor cleaning on 350D

I have a 30D with the same option, all it does is mirror lockup and make sure the shutter stays open + lowers the voltage going to the sensor (to stop it attracting dust while cleaning) so Yes u still need to do it manually (when i first saw it i got exited 2)

Canon Efs 17- 85mm usm Is f4-5.6

Sensor clean locks up the mirror and allows you to clean the sensor (but disables the other functions so you can not take a picture).

Mirror lock up allows you to use the feature when taking a picture.

350D cleaning

Re: Sensor cleaning on 350D

Yep, you were right G, I found the manual this morning it is only a lockup feature to enable you to clean the sensor, also, they don't recommend using compressed air, only use a rubber bulb type blower without a brush on it.

Thanks for the info G, it made me search for the manual.
