I think the D80 is pretty much out of stock. The D60 is a good camera and will produce similar, possibly slightly tweaked, results. If you are buying I don't think it hurts to ask to get a better deal. In many parts of the world you would expect to get a memory card, maybe an extended warranty, or something extra thrown in. That salesman could have met you half way or with something but maybe screwing them down to £349 with the VR was pushing the boat out a little too far. As I said in an earlier post, I'd support the independant retailers and Jessops, but not when they are a significant amount more expensive.

Prices have gone up the last 2-3 weeks but I reckon they will drop soon enough. People are already saying they won't buy so retailers and manufacturers will soon get the message. Something will have to give.

Enjoy the D60. The VR will be worth it from time to time.
