Couple of snow birds

Decided I don't like shooting when it is actually snowing, visibility and the light constantly changing. I do like it once it stops, as it seems to work as a giant reflector.

Birds seem to love the snow though, and the wind in their knickers

Dark eyed Junco

Hermit Thrush

Thanks for looking

Aww lovely, birds don't seem to like the snow here in Manchester. Hear them singing away but you never see them LOL!

Re: Couple of snow birds

Thank you xx Second is my fave too,and the first time I have got a semi decent shot of this bird.

Thanks Em,it has taken about 7 weeks of practice but I can now see, improvements in birds I shot before Christmas and now. Think my reflexes and thinking on my feet have improved a lot by doing this. It was one area of photography I used to get really frustrated with, wildlife pics, all been a huge learning curve

PS Still got a long way to go though

Re: Couple of snow birds

First shot is great, Suzi, but that second one is superb, it was the one that immediately caught my eye. The exposure and framing is spot on and with the wind ruffling his feathers, snow drops and ice on the fence makes it even more special. You should post a larger image, Suzi, it deserves to be shown bigger

Re: Couple of snow birds

Thank you they are better than my last attempt at snow pictures, sadly, no decent Red cardinal pics this time

I got about 10 of the Hermit Thrush with the wind in his feathers, but this one was my fave.
