Re: Your favourite lens... and why!?

I've not had much chance to use my new camera kit, but the lens I've shot everything on so far has been my Sony DT 18-200mm F3.5-6.3. It seems to be a great all rounder, and a good walk-about-lens, suitable for almost anything ( to an extent).
I recently bought a Sony AF28-80mm F3.5-5.6 wide angle lens but haven't even tried it out yet, and only yesterday I bought a new SONY 500mm f8 Reflex lens which hopefully will be here in a couple of days. I've wanted this lens for a while now, so I'm really excited about finally having one!

Re: Your favourite lens... and why!?

I've found that the Sony lenses are coming in just slightly cheaper than their Canon or Nikon counter-parts, but Sony ( Minolta ) are not known for producing lenses of the same quality as the other two, hence the slight price difference.

I think Sony are really trying hard to get a chunk of the market though, with more and more additions to the Alpha family being announced. They will obviously need top quality lenses to compete in that area of the market too.

Re: Your favourite lens... and why!?

What about their Carl Ziess lens range? Is that their top-of-the-range lenses? Are they better than Minolta lenses?

Re: Your favourite lens... and why!?

I think the Carl Ziess lenses are their high end lenses Azz. Even on Sony's new HD broadcast cameras, they use Carl Ziess lenses.

Re: Your favourite lens... and why!?

Yeah Azz! As far as costs go, the Carl Ziess lenses are on a par, and sometimes even exceed the cost of a like for like Canon lens.

Re: Your favourite lens... and why!?

It's a very difficult question... In terms of the lenses I have it would either be the 10-22mm Canon EFS or the 70-300mm Canon DO EF... Both have pleased me greatly - although I also get a lot of use out of the 17-85mm Canon EFS... So in summary - there isn't a favourite
