Lily

Lately I've been getting more interested in plant shots, here's one I took last week (its a bit soft though). Have you guys got any handy tips on shooting interesting plant photos? And obviously comments on the pic. Thanks

Re: Lily

I'm curious what graphics software you use? You have a wonderful eye for composition. This photo has potential. True, it was a bit soft yet it can be sharpened. Also it's underexposed so you needed to brighten the entire photo then vignette the outside edge to add emphasis to the center of the flower. Finaly, I cleaned up orange specks on the petals.

Re: Lily

Hi Bob thanks for the pointers - the edit looks great. I've not been using a graphics program lately but I'm going to start using Photoshop at college during my free time. I'll have a go at editing this pic tomorrow. Thanks again

Re: Lily

Polo, you would be able to do all that with Elements which you should be able to get for not very much and I believe you can get PS very muched reduced if you are a student.

Re: Lily

Excellent points from Bob there As you may know, I do a fair amount of flower photography and it really does help if you have good light (but not too harsh) Make sure there is a focal point (like the orange sepals in your shot). Try looking at a flower from all different angles and let the light play on it, you might see something you hadn't seen before

Your shot is lovely, Bob's version brings it right out into the open and shows what can be done

Re: Lily

It has all the most used features of PS, and for everyday editing it is superb, if you really want to get into editing and amendment in a big way then PS is great to play with but Elements will do a good job with almost anything you wish to do.
