Re: Battery grips - worth it?

I've had a play with a D3, and the D300 with the grip is actually a little bigger than the D3. Other than that the feel is the same, I've played with a Canon 1d mkII and a 5d with grip and they are the same feel as the D3 and D300 with grip.

It does take a little getting used to as the camera seems huge, and when you put it to your eye in portrait always miss the view finder as it is lower than your used to when using the cam in landscape!

Re: Battery grips - worth it?

One things for sure - you will look like a 'proper' photographer cos the thing makes the camera look huge!

Maybe pop down to jessops and ask them to let you have a play with one on one of their cameras?

Re: Battery grips - worth it?

I had one for my Nikon D70s and now I would rather spend my money on more batteries.
That is because I have the D200, if I upgraded to the D300 getting more FPS with a grip it may well be worth considering.

It all comes down to the question, what /when/why would you use a grip for? bearing in mind the extra weight added.
