Battery grips - worth it?
Battery grips? Worth it?
I have thought about them before, I know basically they are used for extra battery life, for this point I dont feel its necessary as the Canon has excellent battery life and I havent run it down yet in one session!
However, Im told, and have read they are very useful for portrait shots, which I do a lot of, as they have the shutter button in a far more "accessible" place. Opinions please.

Got mine for the D300 a couple of weeks back, gives the cam a better balance and makes portrait orientation shots a lot easier. The increase in battery life is invaluable, although the boost to 8fps I haven't played with yet

I fancy the BG-EN2 or whatever it's called for the 40D
I always wimp out in the end as they're not cheap

I think if you like the feel/handle of the camera with one on then that's prob the main reason to get one.
Although for some cameras (like the D300) you get better performance too - so ideal for sports photographers.

Ive never handled one with a grip on it. The nearest would be shooting with a Nikon D3 is it similar in feel and shape?
