Re: Male Common Darter 2

Another nice one Owen

Did you use center focus point on the head ? I just wondered why you went for this composition rather than focus / recompose to get the whole of the dragonfly in frame.

I can't see your exif but from the shallow depth of focus I was keen to see what the aperture / focal length and distance was.
Kit 1
Canon 1D Mark 3
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L USM
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Kit 2
1D2 & 40D

Hi Phil I used AF-A focus and what you see is what I could get in frame, as I now only use a kit lens with close up filter I have to get pretty close to subject and this being quite a jumpy character it was difficult lol

Camera Nikon D5100
Exposure 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture f/9.0
Focal Length 55 mm
Focal Length 55.0 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash No Flash

If memory serves me correct I was on hands and knees about 2-3 inches from the subject...
