Rugged Wilderness

It's hard for me to believe I live in a place like this. It's the sort of thing you view on National Geographic while on Safari or something. The stark wilderness that surrounds the Columbia River Gorge is beautiful if not terrifying at times.

Re: Rugged Wilderness

You're on a roll tonight Bob.

Again I see the similarity to Scotland's west coat albeit only in the furthest headland. We don't have the 'flat topped' geography really.

I think you're right Moon it is, or was Columbus Day. It's not a big holiday here, except for the "Columbus Day Sale". My employer, Intel Corp., gives us 86 hours of Holiday pay each year but remains open & running each & every day. We can literally take Christmas off in July under their guidelines so Holidays lose their meaning.

Re: Rugged Wilderness

Keep in mind Jols that I work a 12 hour day so 86 hours is just over 7 days pay. Columbus Day is not a paid Holiday here. We also get 86 hours of what is referred to as PA (Paid Absence or Sick Time). Then there's the 86 hours of paid vacation. We are permitted to sell any of this back to the company for time & a half pay. I just sold them 50 hours of PA two weeks ago to help pay for mechanical work on my motorcycle. A tune-up, tires & brakes totalled $1,140. That's two new Nikon lenses.

Re: Rugged Wilderness

So actually how much paid holiday do you get at the start ?

As I said I get 6 weeks paid annual leave.

If I have time off sick thats paid but thats separate

Great composition Bob. It's great to see the world through the eyes of another.
