Doggie

While photographing waterfalls with my co-worker, Alex, a stranger passed by walking his dog. I snapped a quick shot and was surprised how good the shot looks. I'm certainly not a dog photographer but wish I could give a copy of this photo to the dog owner.

It's an extreme crop with a blurred background.

Re: Doggie

I can see it now.

Lovely composition and expression - agree with Polo, it looks like a filter of some sort has been added? Makes it look more like a painting

Aww cute dog, looks a bit like a Spinoni crossed with a Poodle, well what I would expect that cross to look like!

Re: Doggie

I'm not entirely sold on the filter effect; nevertheless the dog's face is endearing. It's a handsome dog for sure.

Re: Doggie

The composition on both is wonderful. You seem to have captured the dogs sober character well too

I am in agreement that the images look like they have a paint effect overlayed. Have you tried running the ISO reduction over it? Maybe this is what has caused the sever blurring?
