Anna's Hummingbird (male)

This a male Anna's Hummingbird, very small about 3 inches in total.
The males change colour by moving their iridescent feathers, as I pressed the shutter his whole head was pink, but only part of it was caught

Apologies, for the fact that he is blurry slightly on the right, but they constantly throb so the twig was moving too

I love the texture of their feathers, really unusual.

Thanks for looking xxxx

Re: Anna's Hummingbird (male)

Thank you

I think it was luck, that it came out so well they are wriggle bums

Seeing is believing though, how they change colour, so tiny too.

Re: Anna's Hummingbird (male)

Nice capture Moonie although the colours look a bit odd/pixelated, as if viewing at 256 rather than 16million in low resolution, if you see what I mean. Did you do much PP/cropping or was it captured like this?

Re: Anna's Hummingbird (male)

I disagree Grant :/ I can't see any pixelation at all - it looks perfect :/

Re: Anna's Hummingbird (male)

Cropped a bit to get rid of some dead space, but the bird is basically untouched, apart resizing.

TBH I was just glad to get a shot, it constantly throbbed, is the best way to describe it,changing colour and it was in a dark corner, behind glass. So I am happy with it

Re: Anna's Hummingbird (male)

Yes, shooting through glass won't have helped with image quality as it can introduce all sorts of optical aberations depending on how thick the gass is, dirt, light path, and if you shot from an angle to the glass as well, won't have helped.

Was the image taken at a zoo or from your house?

I hope you get the chance to capture some more images of him
