I've been playing with layers - not got is quite right. Keep practising.

It's a very strong image you've got.

I'm drawn to the sharp horizontal table edge against the red dress, wonder if blurring/burning the join might help ?

Love the red/white/black theme. It reminds me a bit of the White Stripes.

Thank you kind folks, I have not really used levels much although in the past I have done a fair bit of amendment and editing I have found a way around what it is I wanted to do.

Read an article in PP and thought I would give it a try, seemed to work and I will try very hard to learn to use levels a good deal more.

Will take the comment about the table to heart and make a point of checking for things like that in the future. Am just learning Lightroom and will then tackle a move from Elements to PS only hope I can live long enough to become competent

Thanks for the advice Phil, have burned across the red dress just above the table and it has made a difference. Will not re-upload it but will remember in future.
