Best free editing software

I like others out there can get very confused over which software to download. I wish I could afford photoshop now but i can't.
So what would other members recon is the best to use.
I would love your input.
I use Gimp at the moment but is there anything better?

Re: Best free editing software

You don't need to pay big money for editors unless you are trying to keep up with the latest versions. You can find software like The Gimp for free. However if you are prepared to pay, you can get older versions of Adobe Elements, Jasc Paint Shop Pro or Corel Paint Shop x2 for smllish amounts. The later for example was £15 at Tesco.

Re: Best free editing software

I would second Elements.
You can get Elements 7 for £30 ish on Amazon and it is a cracking editing programme.
You can download a month trial of Elements 8 to see if you like it, its not much different to 7.

Canon 550D
Canon 50mm 1.8
Sigma 30mm 1.4
on loan: Tamron 90mm
Kit 2
Canon 300D (in use by my 10 year old)
