Re: To bid or not to bid?

I was so close to making the switch (again) & buying a D700 body the other day but ended up buying some L lenses instead.

It's so easy to get swept along with ever changing body specs and with 7D, 5DII & D700 all calling I decided to go with the glass.
Kit 1
Canon 1D Mark 3
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L USM
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Kit 2
1D2 & 40D

Re: To bid or not to bid?

Em- I am still watching, I just worry about buying as lens and having no warranty etc, my limit would be $350,after that you'd might as well buy a new one with full warranty.

I have a plan that this year is the the year I get the lenses I really want, and a some Alien Bees. Almost finished with the lighting set up , just need to order a new backdrop. Work really hard on getting as much experience as possible, and building a strong portfolio.

Then, next year I go Full Frame, so I have two bodies, one cropped, one FF.I am in no hurry though, as Phil said earlier, at the moment it is more important for me to have decent glass, and I love my D300

Re: To bid or not to bid?

I have watched and bid on loads of second hand lenses, but they seem to hold their value so well that, as you say, you may as well buy new with warranty.
I'm only willing to take the risk if its at a bargain price.
