Re: Voigtlander VitoCL with Rollie flash

Peps it works like it was made yesterday. Even the clockwork timer delay works as well as a swiss watch, and the light meter works perfectly. Three rings for adjustment distance (in feet, metric wasn't used then) -film speed ASA 10-800 or 12-30 DIN depending on what speed film used - aperture

Interesting way the light meter works. Two arms inside the meter one with a hole in the end and the other just like a watch arm which detected the amount of light, so you manually turn the arm with the hole in it so the single arm is viewed inside the hole and that set the aperture. No batteries back in those days.

Again no SLR with this camera one has to allow for parallex error ( that get you wondering what that is/was )

A really close up shot of meter working( no light and the straight arm would be resting on the bottom of the view screen )

Has a bit of dust between the lenses but nothing that can't easily be fixed, but after being laid up for 44 years its only to be expected.

Pity cameras arn't so well built nowadays, this is engineering at its best camera wise. I have owned it from new and used about 6 rolls of film with it no more

The flashgun is nearly the first generation of electronic flash guns, and anything Rollie was the best on the market. Before that they were flash bulbs cubes that plugged into a fan/cone shape unit, and could be used 4 times before being used up. I remember spreading out the flash fan and plugging in the flash cubes. Occassionally the bulb didn't go off but the cube automatically revolved to the next flash position.
