Bags and equipment?

I was wondering what type of bag you all use for your equipment and do you carry everything on you, or only selected lenses/items?

I have recently got a new lens (my Christmas present ) and I am rapidly running out of space in my camera bag The trouble is, I don't want to move to the next size up as I don't particularly like the way it sits and it would be too heavy to be practical. I currently use a Lowepro Slingshot 200 and love it, I can (at a squash) get it to hold a DSLR body, 5 lenses, 1 flash, 1 P&S camera (my IXUS, it doesn't take up much space) and various essential accessories - batteries, spare cards etc). I do also have a Lowepro Toploader 65, but I tend to only use that when I take the body out with a dedicated lens - I can't take two lenses in that bag.

So, what do you all do? Carry all your equipment or only the ones you think you may need (and if you need one of the ones you have left behind then tough ).
Kit 1

Re: Bags and equipment?

If I'm taking everything, then I use a rucksack. I can get all my lenses, filters, camera's, batteries etc in it. It can be a little heavy but it's better than carting round lots of different bags My tripod has it's own bag which carries both tripods.

Re: Bags and equipment?

Hi GH, I have a Lowepro photo trekker AW II bag for all my gear, it's weather proof as well, and has many more compartments inside and out, you can even attach a tripod, but I just carry mine. Although the picture shows my old 400d, it can take my 40d plus teleconverter (attached) as well.

I also use a lowepro Nova 1 AW which I used just for my 400d and 17-40mm L
but I dont think it will take the 40d plus lens now
Kit 1
Canon 5D MKII
Canon 400mm f5.6 L
Canon 70-200mm f4.0 L
Canon 17-40mm f4.0 L
Kit 2
Canon 50d

Re: Bags and equipment?

WOW DJ that 400mm is a nice bit of glass!

Ok currently my kit consists of:

Nikon D50
Tamron 70-300mm
Kit 18-55mm
Jessops Flash Unit
Couple of filters ND, Polarising, UV, IR
Mafrotto Tripod and head
Lowepro Sling bag (for D50)

hoping to buy a Nikkor 50mm prime in the next week or so , then maybe the Sigma 12-24mm or the 17-70mm

Re: Bags and equipment?

I carry all my stuff with me all the time, never know when i may need it.

I was just using a basic ruck sack with some "padding" in for now, but running out of room and i don't want anything getting damaged.
