Black & White

I've been thinking more about photography theory as of late and looking a lot into black & white photography.

Often people with P&S camera wack on b&w mode and love the effect. regardless of why.

I visited berlin this last week as part of a university trip and made a real effort with black and white. not just chancing it but looking at the tonal range within a potential photograph.

Here are a few, not the greatest photos in the world. but an attempt to better understand tone:

Kit 1
Canon 7D
Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Canon Speedlite 430ex II

Nice shots Dan.

There's some great compositions there and interesting lines - I especially like number 2 and 3.

What lens are you using for the wider shots ? I thought your 18-55 was broken.

Love the curves in the third shot Dan, and great tone too. Great Mono work x

Re: Black & White

Dan
In picture number 2, I wouldn't have gone to the extreme of polishing all the cars parked in the road first. I think that may be a wee bit over the top.
