It is supposed to be a good all rounder, which is what I need capable of Portraits, and macro, as I do love my close ups of flowers I think I will use it a lot

When it comes to lenses, you will find that you actually do get what you pay for - the 50mm is faster glass than the 35mm, by quite alot - which is great for macro and portraiture stuff, you will get a really nice DoF with a F/2. BUt, with a difference of £200(ish) - hmm - Have you done any searches for sample shots, comparing the 2?

Yep, the 50mm produces really amazing shots,the 35mm does do great shots too.....but it's the price

My heart wants the 50mm, but my head says the 35mm just because this time next year I may have gone off flowers etc but the 50mm lens is a lens I could use for everything.and it is a great lens. I have wanted it since I got my Oly.

Can you not wait and save up for it?? I personally feel you will be better of with the 50mm as it will give you a more general pupose use. Your more than welcome to come up and muck around with my 50mm beore you do anything

The 50mm is a great quality lens, and I do really want it, so I will probably carry on saving up for it.

Iv spent more than that today (but then again i have been saving loads! LOL) I want the 70-200VR but thats over 1K (as is the 24-70) and we have other things that have to come before that (like food! LOL)

Thats the thing with cameras, its not the outlay cost of the body, its the cost of the blooming glass!!!

I agree with KK - think you will get more use out of the 50.. but, why not go into a shop and ask to try both out? I think you will know instantly which one you want

and the 35mm is a very good lens for me now..............


I am blaming you for this Azz you were the one who told me to come here, and I didn't have a SLR then, and now look at me, I am spending hours looking at lenses.

Er................ I have bought the 35mm it is hopefully on it's way to me
I couldn't decide so I have bought the 35 mm, amd I am now saving up for the 50mm
