Its one thing offering portraits - they can always be repeated if not up to scratch, but you can never ever go back and recapture your wedding day.

I am reading several photography books about the business side, marketing, business plans etc, and several blogs, so can't remember where I read this but.......

Basically, this excellent advice is as follows... Don't make your clients pay for your education, in other words, do not set yourself up as a photographer, until you know you can deliver the goods.
Don't shoot off zillions of shots in the hope of getting a few keepers. Instead learn your equipment inside out,have equipment that can do the job, find models who will pose in exchange for a CD,second shoot and assist,attend workshops and practice all the time.

I think this is great and sensible advice.
