Any good photography books

Well I have a new camera and despite me wanting to get entry level DSLR I was persuaded that it was too expensive when meant to be saving for a wedding so I have The Fuji Finepix S20. Just back from Skye and took hundreds of pics in 4 days and have a couple, literally a couple I like!

Anyway this camera has all sorts of settings etc my old camera didn't and I had great fun playing around but actually had no idea what I was doing

Can anyone recommend a couple of good books I can read I have taken a couple out of the library but they seem to focus (no pun intended) on the editing side of photography rather than the actual capturing of images. I though didgital photography for dummies would be a good place to start but it wasn't particularly informative

Any good recommendations for a complete novice who would like to learn. I see from a thread on Dogsety that "Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with Any Camera " may be a good start any others?

Thanks

Re: Any good photography books

I was also going to suggest 'Understanding Exposure'.

Another book I have which is quite handy is 'Mastering Digital Photography' by Michael Freeman.

Re: Any good photography books

I think the Peterson book 'Understanding Exposure' is now assuming biblical status.

Understanding Exposure, is definitely a good buy, also The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman and Within the Frame, by David DuChemin.
