Monitor calibration question

Is there a need to calibrate modern IPS monitors?

I don't find it once set up properly they are very good now. Should a picture need altering it can be done quite successfully in PP.

Some people maintain they they need to recalibrate every time or every fortnight to keep their monitors in top condition. What I would say in reply that if this has to be done then there is something seriously wrong with their equipment.

Maybe their cameras or lenses or lack of knowledge on how to get the best out of their cameras is the answer, I don't know.

Any thoughts

I agree. Also there is at times still a need to proof images for print and web.
