Tog

I read that some photographers hate being called a tog. I didn't even know what this meant until a few weeks ago.
I googled it and found a forum site where some were very over the top about being called a TOG.

What's your guys views on this? Does it bother you, or is it just a nickname for a photographer?

Re: Tog

I've no problem being called a tog, it's just an abbreviation of photographer. Unless of course it's one of Terry Wogan's 'terry's old geezers'

Re: Tog

If I classed myself as a photographer then I wouldn't be bothered by being called a 'Tog' or 'Togger' - but then I don't really class myself as a 'photographer' any more than I class myself as a 'guitarist' or a 'driver' - it's something I do rather than something I am.

Re: Tog

I'm with phil on this.

I use it as a verb for an excursion that is primarily photography motivated as in 'off out for a Tog'

Re: Tog

I totally agree with Phil about not seeing myself as a photographer, but as something I do from time to time. Having said that I'm not fussy about what I'm called either as long as it's not to rude

Re: Tog

I'm called all sorts of things so wouldn't mind unless it was clearly offensive. I also agree with others, I'm not a tog by trade - just like photography.
