American Kestrel

The American Kestrel, sometimes colloquially known as the Sparrow Hawk, is a small falcon, and the only kestrel found in the Americas. It is the smallest falcon in North America and, under traditional classification, is the smallest raptor in America. But really cute little bird though eh? Pictured here near Williams, Arizona.

Re: American Kestrel

How amazing to capture this beautiful little fella in his natural environment.

I love the third shot, I have a thing for people and animnals etc walking/running/flying away if that makes sense.

cheers Marion

Re: American Kestrel

Thanx All,
Marion, re. the third shot flying away, yes that makes sense to me also. I have a similar shot of George (the Eagle Owl) flying away, just great to see the power of their wings.
cheers
