Shall we turn off comments in our Albums?
Hi Guys,
Do you think we should just turn of comments in albums and simply use them as part of our profiles, rather than a place to expect comments?
I've spoken to some people (who are not that used to forums) and thought they weren't 'popular' here as their uploaded pics didn't get comments.
The albums need work, eg tags, and easier commenting (ie via quick reply) so until we get that I feel we should switch them off for now (the comments not the actual albums) and instead maybe include a link box so people can copy the link and post on the forums instead

I like the comment,s but just don't get time to go through people's albums, heck, I haven't even uploaded anything of my own yet! 
Your call Azz, if you think turning them off will help people feel less alienated, then go for it. Perhaps a voting system? like the one on E-photozine. Most people have time to click the 'like' or 'vote' button, even if busy. Or favourites, like on Deviantart - again, works the same way - just one click and it's added to your favourite folder.

I tend to not use my album as the coverage I get on flickr far out weighs the coverage here. But its a nice option to have an album. but the comments aren't essential.

I think that most of the pictures in our albums are on the forum anyway, so most of them will have had a comment there! So taking away that feature there might be a good thing!

I quite like it but must admit I really don't go on the albums frequently.

Hence why I'm thinking (for now at least) just have them as an extension of our profile - ie where we want to show off some of our best pics, given this is a photography site.
Maybe in the future we can make the 'uploading' aspect of YoP more like flickr

Speaking of which..thanks for your comments on mine, Azz!
It would be nicer, if you could incorporate a section (which also shows on the home page) of newly uploaded photos (like deviant art).
