Streets of London

It's the time of year that brings out the most photogenic in our Capital City. As I was in Oxford Street anyway, heading to the musical comedy club I go to every month I took the opportunity to try some more *street* photography. Some work, I think. Others are more tourist-snapshotty. Let me know what you think?

Re: Streets of London

I lived in London for best part of twenty years, I very rarely went into the city! Now that I am living back in Scotland I frequently visit my daughter who lives in Herts. Every visit we spend a day in London my favourite places being Camden and Covent Garden.

I love the hustle and bustle you have captured here, London is quite literally a city of images. You step forward a yard or so and your view can change quite dramatically, its an amazing city and your captures have been a lovely trip down memory lane.

cheers Marion

Re: Streets of London

What I love about the idea of street photography, and what I try to capture (you'll have to judge the success, I'm biassed) is the back-story. For example, in 1, the little lady sits alone drinking tea. Is she waiting for someone? Does she come and sit at the same time every night?

Behind the man with the camera is another chap looking into my lens and frowning. Why?

We will never know. But we get to imagine, just for an instant, the lives, loves and losses of people we will likely never ever see again. And because we WILL never know, our story, the narrative we have in our heads, is as real, as valid as any.

Just beware of the Russian Spy staring into the lens of my camera in shot 4. Nikolai Jereschenko is not a peaceful man...
